City pleased with implementation of car parking fees

Zomba City Council says people have shown positive feedback since the introduction of car parking charges in all designated parking areas.

Zomba City Council introduced car parking fees on April 30 this year and each car costs K150 per hour.

Public Relations Officer for Zomba City council, Mercy Chaluma told YFM Online that the new system has been a success so far though they are still facing challenges since some car owners are still refusing to pay the fees.

“People welcomed the development and they have been complying in paying the car parking fees,” Chaluma said.

She said the council will enhance reinforcement of the tax payment by clamping down on car owners who are not complying with the new system.
