Police recover K1.8m worth of stolen property

Police in Machinga district are keeping in custody two suspects identified as Bill kalidogi, 22 and Christopher Samu, 23, for burglary and theft of items worth K1.8 million.

Mangochi Police Public Relations Officer Ngwashape Msume on October 29, 2019 Liwonde police officers were on sweeping exercise in its policing area within Liwonde Township when they received information that the suspects were possessing items suspected to have been stolen.

After receiving the tip police made follow ups which led to the arrest of the suspects and recovery of three bicycles, one home theater, two speakers, radios, sewing machine, assorted clothes and other items worth K1.8 million.

According to Msume, the suspects stole the items from different houses at Chabwera village and other items have been identified by the owners.

The suspect will appear before court soon to answer the charges of burglary and theft.

Billy Kalidogi comes from Mdala village in the area of Traditional Authority Namavi in Mangochi district while Christopher Samu is from Gambe village Traditional Authority Nkaya in Balaka district.
