Basketball Association of Malawi (BASMAL) says it has extended its deadlines for applicants to submit their application for several positions as the federation is approaching its general elections.

BASMAL general secretary, Edgar Ng’ong’ola said that the development has come about because various interested people complained that they did not have time to submit their application forms.

“As a federation we received some complaints from interested people who want to contest in the elections that the time which was given was too short,” said Ng’ong’ola.

The federation has not yet set a new date which for the deadline of submission of the applications but it is said to be mid-February.

Ng’ong’ola said: “We have not come up with the a new deadline date for submission of applications, but the federation is looking at dates in mid-February and we will be in touch with the media as well as the parties of interest.”

BASMAL is expected to hold its general elections month end of February where they will elect new office bearers for different departments.
