Chakwera appoints ministers

President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has made ministerial appointments effective June 29, 2020.

A press statement signed by Secretary to the Treasury Cliff Chiunda said Chakwera has appointed Vice President Saulos Chilima as Minister Responsible for Economic Planning and Development and Public Sector Reforms.

Financial executive and former Nico Holdings Managing Director Felix Mlusu, has been appointed new Minister of finance.

Chakwera has also appointed Malawi Congress Party (MCP) lead lawyer in the landmark presidential election case, Modecai Msiska SC, new Minister of Justice and Constitution Affairs.

Lead UTM lawyer in the infamous election case Dr. Chikosa Silungwe is the new Attorney General replacing the under-fire Kalekeni Kaphale.

Civil servant Zangazanga Chikhosi has been promoted to the post of Chief Secretary to the Government replacing the under-fire Lloyd Muhara.

Chakwera has also appointed economist Prince Kapondamgaga as Chief of Staff of State Residences.
