Mutharika’s aide Chisale to remain in custody

Lilongwe Magistrate Court has reserved to Friday, a ruling on a bail application by former President Peter Mutharika’s head of security, Norman Chisale.

Chisale, who presented himself to the police on Tuesday, appeared before Magistrate Violet Chipawo on Wednesday.

His lawyer Chancy Gongwe said Chisale has been charged with fraud and money laundering.

Chisale, private bodyguard for Mutharika, will remain in a cooler until Friday when the court shall decide whether to grant him bail or not.

He was arrested in relation to the importation of K5billion worth of cement duty free using Mutharika’s identification number.
