ACB arrests Magistrate for soliciting bribes

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Magistrate Harry Ngulube for allegedly abuse of power and soliciting bribes in Mitundu, Lilongwe.

ACB Spokesperson Egrita Ndala said the graft-bursting body has established that Ngulube of Chiseka Magistrate’s Court was soliciting bribes from court users.

Ndala said the bureau received a tip in January last year, that Ngulube has been soliciting advantage in order to rule in favour of parties when distributing matrimonial properties.

Following an investigation, it was observed that he allegedly received money amounting to K600,000 from three divorce cases which involved poor Malawian villagers.

ACB therefore has arrested the magistrate for supposedly misusing his office and soliciting bribes.

Reports indicate that Ngulube is at area 3 police custody in the capital city, Lilongwe.
