Government gets more Covid-19 supplies

Government has received medical supplies to the tune of over K119 million from World Vision Malawi(WVM).

The medical supplies include albendazole tablets, examination gowns and baby feeding bottles.

Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda described the donation as timely and added that it will enhance governments Covid-19 response among others.

Chiponda stated that the gesture is commendable because Malawi is still battling the Covid-19 pandemic and therefore personal protective equipment (PPE’s) are very critical.

She went on to say that such efforts have contributed to the drop in Covid-19 positivity rate and number of fatalities.

Statistics indicate that from 29 July the positivity rate has come down from 23.5 % to 5.7%.

Chiponda also took time to reiterate calls for people to continue to adhere to Covid-19 measures and listen to Covid-19 prevention messages and behave responsibly.

The minister has since assured WVM that the donation will be used purposefully and asked other organizations to emulate the gesture.
