I will continue expressing my views – Chisa Mbele

Joshua Chisa Mbele, a social media influencer who has been released on bail Friday, has vowed to continue expressing his views on what he calls matters of national interest despite his recent arrest.

Mbele has been in Police custody since Tuesday this week on two offenses of criminal libel and publication of offensive communication.

“All in all I strongly believe that the so-called offense was not done out of malice, I m was just commenting on the matter which is in public interest and which is already out there in public,” he said.

“But anyway the law has taken its course, I have been released on bail and we will how the matter moves on from now going onwards.”

In interview after being granted bail by the Lilongwe Senior Resident Magistrate’s court, Mbele said he comments on matters of public interest not personal and that he will continue doing so.

“The Court understands that it’s not something that they can easily limit a citizen on how to express his views especially on matters of public interest.”

“I comment on matters of public interest not on personal issues, so public interest issues I will talking about them,” Mbele said.
