Court adjourns Bushiri’s extradition case

The Chief Resident Magistrate’s Court in Lilongwe has adjourned to 11th July 2022, hearing of an extradition case involving Enlightened Christian Gathering Leader Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary.

The adjournment follows appearance of the couple before Magistrate Madalitso Chimwaza on Friday whereby the State asked the court that evidence by their South Africa-based witnesses be recorded citing logistical challenges.

However, one of the lawyers representing the Bushiris – Wapona Kita has objected the application arguing that the High Court already addressed the matter.

On his part, Director of Public Prosecutions Steven Kayuni said they want High Court’s determination on the proceedings.
