Blantyre shooting case hearing to proceed on August 30

Malawi Police Service has opened cases in relation to the shooting incident that occurred in Blantyre.

According to a press statement signed by national police spokesperson, Peter Kalaya, Rabiah Akar allegedly shot and wounded his employee, Dave Tsogolera who is being suspected of breaking into his warehouse in Limbe.

The police have therefore disclosed the two cases from the incident and include; acts intended to cause grievous harm and breaking into a building with the intent to commit a felony.

Akar is being suspected of causing grievous harm and the case appeared before court on August 9, 2022. He was given bail and the case is expected to proceed on August 30, 2022.

Tsogolera and five others also appeared before court for allegedly breaking into a building.

The suspects were granted bail on August 5, 2022 and hearing of the case will proceed on August 19.

Police has since urged people in the country to prevent circulating information they do not have full facts to avoid creating false illusion of insecurity in the country.
