Chinese Lu Ke denied bail

Senior Resident Magistrate James Mankhwazi has ruled that Chinese national Lu Ke popularly known as Susu should not be released on bail until prosecution of his case is concluded.

Delivering ruling on defense’s bail application, Magistrate Mankhwazi said the defense did not give satisfying arguments, and that the accused is a flight risk therefore, should not be given bail.

The court has since set 7th October as the date on which the accused will be formally charged and take plea.

Speaking to YFM, Director of Public Prosecution Dr. Steven Kayuni said the state has filed 14 charges against Susu.

Susu was arrested in July this year following a viral video footage in which the accused was allegedly exploiting Malawian children.
