Renowned child rights activist Amos Chibwana has called on the Ministry of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare to decentralize the newly launched National Children’s Manifesto to ensure children in remote areas also have a platform to express their views.
The call comes after the Deputy Minister of Gender, Halima Daudi, officially launched the manifesto on Wednesday. The document aims to empower children to advocate for their rights, well-being, and protection, while also holding decision-makers accountable.
According to Daudi, the manifesto captures the aspirations and concerns of children and serves as a critical tool for shaping a better future for Malawi’s younger generation.
Speaking to YFM, Chibwana emphasized the importance of inclusive implementation, urging the government to adopt deliberate strategies to make the manifesto accessible to children in rural and hard-to-reach areas.
