The Tobacco Commission (TC) has announced that the 2025 tobacco sales at the Mzuzu Auction Floors will now commence on Wednesday.
TC Public Relations Officer, Telephorus Chigwenembe, confirmed the rescheduling, stating that the market, initially set to open on Monday, April 28, will instead begin operations on Wednesday, April 30.
Chigwenembe explained that the change was made to allow for the completion of all necessary preparations, ensuring a smooth and efficient sales process for all stakeholders.
This year’s tobacco marketing season began earlier this month at three other auction floors. In the first two weeks of trading, the green leaf has generated $12.4 million, with over 5 million kilogrammes sold.
