Mec begins final phase of voter verification

The Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) has launched the third and final phase of voter verification as part of its preparations for the upcoming general elections, scheduled for September 16, 2025.

The final phase, which began on May 29, covers Lilongwe, Lilongwe City, Mzimba, Mangochi, Mangochi Municipality, Mwanza, Chikwawa, and Nsanje.

Speaking to the media, Mec Director of Media and Public Relations Sangwani Mwafulirwa confirmed the commencement of the phase and urged the public to take the exercise seriously.

Mwafulirwa emphasized that voter verification is a crucial step to ensure a credible and transparent electoral process.
