Chaponda slams minister over “insensitive” response to passport crisis

By Bernadetta Nomboh

Leader of Opposition in Parliament George Chaponda has expressed concern over the Minister of Homeland Security’s dismissal of public outcry regarding the ongoing passport crisis.

Chaponda has criticised Ken Zikhale Ng’oma’s remark that “everything is under control,” labeling it as false and insensitive to the citizens who have been denied urgent travel due to passport delays.

In a statement, Chaponda attributed the crisis to the government’s decision to terminate its contract with Techno Brain— a company that had been efficiently producing passports—without providing a clear justification.
