Malawi’s Minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare Jean Muonawauza Sendeza has reaffirmed the government’s dedication to child protection.
Speaking on behalf of the Malawi delegation at the 11th Consultation on Helplines, currently underway in Zambia, Sendeza highlighted the positive impact of the Tithandizane Helpline, established by Youth Net and Counselling (YONECO), noting a significant rise in the number of children seeking help and support through the platform.
“We have made a conscious effort to prioritize and align national budgeting across key sectors to ensure that every child who calls has access to timely, professional, and effective assistance,” she stated.
The Malawi team is also scheduled to participate in a parallel session focused on strengthening helplines in low-resource settings and sharing experiences and strategies.
