Bike Town Africa donates bicycles to boost healthcare delivery in Zomba

In a bid to improve access to primary healthcare, Bike Town Africa, in collaboration with Villages in Partnership, has donated 52 bicycles to Khanda Health Centre in Zomba District.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Bike Town Africa President, Mike Brienza, highlighted the organization’s commitment to supporting health workers by enhancing their mobility and reducing transport costs, noting that bicycles are a fuel-free, sustainable alternative.

Villages in Partnership Country Director, Enea Nkhoma, expressed the importance of taking good care of the bicycles properly to ensure their long-term use.

Khanda Health Centre In-Charge, Rodney Msukwa, welcomed the donation, saying it will help health workers reach more patients in remote areas and play a critical role in combating diseases like cholera and malaria.

He also noted the bicycles will support efforts to improve safe motherhood initiatives in the district.

The health centre serves a population of approximately 25,000 people.
