Minister lauds smooth administration of MSCE

Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima has commended the flawless administration of the 2025 Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations, describing the process as smooth and free of major challenges.

Speaking at the official closing ceremony held at Bwaila Secondary School on Friday, the Minister expressed gratitude to the wide array of stakeholders who played a vital role in supporting the national exams.

“We are pleased to report that administration of the 2025 MSCE examinations was successful. We did not encounter any serious challenges that could raise concern,” said Wirima.

She extended appreciation to the Malawi Police Service, the Malawi Defence Force, teachers, parents, guardians, and the general public for their collaborative efforts throughout the examination period. Wirima also praised students for demonstrating discipline and commitment during the exams, and applauded the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) for its key role in managing the process.

Despite the positive outcome, the Minister acknowledged persistent challenges within the education sector, especially in technical education.

She noted that technical programs remain costly to implement and maintain, but affirmed government’s dedication to addressing the issue.

“It is government’s responsibility to ensure that students have access to tools and resources they need to excel in technical subjects. We are aware of the existing gaps and are working on it,” she added.

Bwaila Secondary School Head Teacher, Loyce Mponda, highlighted the financial constraints the school faces in sustaining its technical department.

However, she expressed optimism following the recent national budget allocation targeting technical education.

“We are grateful to the Ministry for the continued support. The budget allocation for our technical department gives us hope, and we look forward to accessing the funds to improve our teaching and learning facilities,” said Mponda.
