Flames’ victory is a sign of hope-Mwase

Following Flames’ victory over Zimbabwe on Friday, assistant coach Meke Mwase, has assured the nation that the team will qualify for the knockout stages of 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.

Flames brought joy to Malawians after coming from behind to beat Zimbabwe 2-1 in their second match of the tournament.

Gabadinho Mhango, was a marvellous to watch when he netted all the two goals and grabbed the man of the match award.

In a post-match interview, Meke Mwase said: “We said we wanted to qualify for the knockout stages and we are happy we have collected these three points and in the next game against Senegal, we will fight.”

There were jubilations across the country after the final whistle was blown.

The team lost their opening match against Guinea by a goal to nil.

During their opening match the team had so many disadvantages after missing key players including the talisman, Gabadinho, due to covid-19 cases.

Flames are on position three with three points in their group B which is being led by Guinea with four points.

Zimbabwe is out of the tournament and is anchoring the group without any point.
