CSOs rue lack of inter-agency coordination in graft fight

A consortium of civil society organizations has raised concerns on what it calls poor inter-agency coordination in the fight against corruption in the country.

The consortium which includes Centre for Civil Society Strengthening Consult, National Alliance Against Corruption (NACA), Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) and Youth and Society (YAS), raised the concerns during a press briefing on the fight against corruption held on Friday in Lilongwe.

Speaking during the presser, YAS executive director Charles Kajoloweka said some of the key concerns include intensified and intrusive interference in the operations of the Anti-Corruption Bureau by the executive to undermine ACB’s mandate to discharge its duties.

The grouping has since called on government to address the concerns with the urgency they deserve.
