CfSC calls for probe into rotten maize saga

By Melody Chipoka

Center for Social Concern (CfSC) has called on government to punish those behind the rotting of 10,000 metric tonnes of maize belonging to the Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (Admarc).

Minister of Agriculture Sam Kawale told Parliament on Tuesday that the rotten maize is not good for human consumption.

In a YFM interview on Wednesday, CfSC programs officer Bernard Mphepo said it was saddening to hear that the maize was going bad when people were facing hunger.

“The country has lost a lot of money in the process,” Mphepo said.

“The government should ensure that there is transparency and accountability on the matter.”
