MAREN urges universities to embrace high-performance computing for research advancement

The Malawi Research and Education Network (MAREN) has urged public universities to make full use of the High-Performance Computing (HPC) facility to strengthen their research capabilities.

MAREN Chief Executive Officer Solomoni Dindi made the call in Lilongwe during the signing of a service agreement between MAREN and the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) for the use of the HPC facility.

Speaking to YFM after the ceremony, Dindi emphasized the importance of leveraging the HPC infrastructure to accelerate and modernize research processes.

“Universities must seize this opportunity to carry out advanced research more efficiently and within shorter time frames,” he said.

LUANAR Vice Chancellor, Professor Emmanuel Kaunda, expressed optimism about the partnership, stating that the HPC facility will support real-time data processing, which is critical for evidence-based policy formulation.
