The Tobacco Commission (TC) has announced that the 2025 tobacco sales at the Mzuzu Auction Floors will open on Wednesday, April 30, instead of the initially scheduled date of Monday, April 28.

TC Public Relations Officer, Telephorus Chigwenembe, confirmed the change, explaining that the adjustment was made to allow for the completion of key preparations to ensure a smooth and efficient trading process for all stakeholders.

Chigwenembe emphasized that the delay is intended to enhance operational readiness at the facility.

The 2025 tobacco market, which opened earlier this month at three other auction floors, has already generated $12.4 million in revenue within the first two weeks, with over 5 million kilogrammes of tobacco sold.
