The Ministry of Water and Sanitation has reiterated that access to clean water, proper sanitation, and hygiene is a fundamental human right.
Minister of Water and Sanitation, Abida Mia, made the remarks on Tuesday in Lilongwe during the Joint Sector Review Meeting, which also featured the launch of the revised National Water Policy and the Ministry’s Strategic Plan for 2025–2030.
Mia reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring access to clean and potable water for all Malawians, both in urban and rural communities.
Panganani Njolomole, Board Chairperson for the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Network (WESNET), expressed optimism that the new policy and strategic plan will strengthen WASH interventions across the country and contribute significantly to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 6.
