Bishop urges St. Luke’s graduates to serve with love

Graduates from St. Luke’s College of Health Sciences, under the Anglican Church, have been urged to prioritize compassion and love in their service to the communities they will serve.

The appeal was made by the Rt. Reverend Bishop William Joseph Mchombo of the Upper Shire Diocese during a graduation ceremony held on Friday in Blantyre. A total of 415 students were awarded diplomas in Nursing and Midwifery, Public Health, and Community Development.

Bishop Mchombo emphasized that qualifications alone are not enough, stating, “A certificate or diploma means little without love and dedication. It is the quality of your work and the care you show that will speak volumes to the public.”

He also encouraged the college to consider introducing degree programs to further enhance the quality of education and professional development offered.

Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Monica Chimalizeni, who earned a diploma in Nursing and Midwifery, expressed her commitment to serving the nation.

“I am ready to contribute to the health sector and make a difference in people’s lives,” she said.
