Massive turnout for Health Ministry recruitment drive

By Prosper Kanyade Balirani

Thousands of job seekers formed long queues at the unfinished Zomba Stadium on Saturday as the Ministry of Health conducted interviews for various entry-level positions, including Disease Control and Surveillance Assistants, Statistical Clerks, and Hospital Attendants.

By early morning, many candidates had already secured seats inside the stadium, waiting for their turn to be interviewed.

Police officers were stationed at the main entrance to provide security and manage the growing crowd.

One of the applicants, Sungani Khomba, described the overwhelming turnout as a reflection of the country’s high unemployment rate.

He called on the government to urgently address the issue, noting that job creation was among its key campaign promises during the 2020 elections.

The Ministry of Health is holding similar interviews in other regions across the country as part of its nationwide recruitment drive.
