The NGO Coalition on Child Rights has called on Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Chikwawa to improve their coordination and timely engagement with the district council in developing and disseminating the citizen budget.
Speaking during a budget management reflection meeting, National Coordinator Henry Machemba emphasized the importance of community participation in planning, implementing, and monitoring development projects.
While acknowledging progress among CSOs, Machemba stressed the need for stronger collaboration with local authorities to ensure governance structures and communities are well-informed about developmental initiatives.
In response, Aubrey Kambewa, representing the Chikwawa District CSO Network, acknowledged existing gaps and committed to strengthening advocacy efforts.
He noted that inclusive participation, particularly of children and persons with disabilities, would be prioritized in future budgeting processes.
