Phunziro Mvula vows to rescue Malawi

Independent presidential candidate Phunziro Mvula has declared his readiness to provide genuine leadership for Malawi, stating that his campaign is driven by compassion and a deep commitment to solving the country’s persistent challenges.

Speaking to the media, Mvula revealed that he once rejected a government job offer, which he claimed was an attempt to silence him and discourage the anti-government protests he led in 2020.

He further claimed that after expressing interest in running for the presidency, some high-ranking individuals attempted to persuade him to withdraw, even offering to refund the nomination fee he paid to the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC).

Mvula described himself as a “saviour of Malawians” and said the K10 million paid to MEC was raised with the support of retired soldiers and ordinary citizens who believe in his vision.

He stated that his primary goal is to recover public funds allegedly looted under various administrations over the years.

According to Mvula, he is committed to recovering K31 trillion in stolen funds, which he claims were taken from Malawians.

Mvula also announced Cedric Mkwanda as his running mate for the upcoming presidential election scheduled for 16 September 2025.
