The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has called on political parties and independent candidates contesting in the upcoming September 16 elections to submit the names of two trusted individuals who will serve as monitors at polling stations, constituency tally centers, and district tally centers.
MEC Director of Media and Public Relations, Sangwani Mwafulirwa, said the Commission does not allow parties or candidates to assign roving monitors who move from one polling station to another on polling day.
Mwafulirwa further urged political parties and independent candidates to appoint reliable and competent individuals who can perform the monitoring duties effectively.
He added that the names must be submitted to MEC district offices no later than August 31.
