The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) has implicated a customs clearing agent, Rhoda Ndovie, in a tax evasion scheme involving over K300 million.
According to MRA’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Wilma Chalulu, Ndovie—who works for Limu Clearing Company—is accused of manipulating import documentation by fraudulently changing the names on consignment documents.
The goods, originally imported under the names of political parties AFORD and DPP, were allegedly re-registered under her own name.
The case follows a recent operation by the MRA, which involved a search at the residence of AFORD leader Enock Chihana. The search was conducted in connection with the same consignment.
The goods in question were imported from South Africa.
