One of Malawi’s renowned security experts, Sherriff Kaisi, has urged the Malawi Police Service to operate within the confines of the law and serve all citizens without political bias in order to restore public confidence in the service.

Kaisi made the remarks following the appointment of Richard Luhanga as the new Inspector General of Police.

According to Kaisi, the new police chief faces the crucial task of addressing public concerns, fostering trust between the police and the community, and ensuring that the service remains independent from political influence.

He further emphasized that professionalism, impartiality, and accountability within the Malawi Police Service are key to rebuilding the public’s trust and ensuring the effective enforcement of law and order.
