Women’s Legal Resources Centre (WOLREC) has unveiled plans to conduct a youth-led study on early and unintended pregnancies in districts with high rates of teenage pregnancy.
Research Coordinator for the Research Informed Solutions for Early and Unintended Pregnancies (RISE UP) project in Zomba District, Jane Chibisa, disclosed the development during a presentation to the District Executive Committee (DEC) meeting.
Chibisa said the study will target young people aged between 18 and 24, including those living with disabilities, in Zomba and Mulanje districts.
She explained that the research aims to understand young people’s views and lived experiences regarding early and unintended pregnancies in order to inform effective interventions.
WOLREC is implementing the RISE UP project in partnership with Social Development Direct (SDDirect), with funding from the Embassy of Ireland in Malawi.
