Two netted for illegal possession of guns ahead of Easter

Police in Zomba have arrested two people for allegedly being found in possession of firearms without valid documentation.

According to Deputy Public Relations Officer for Zomba Police Station, Andrew Mwale, the suspects have been identified as Chinagana Chikadayenda, 25, and William Kennedy, 35.

Mwale says the arrests are part of intensified security operations being undertaken by the police in preparation for the forthcoming Easter festive season.

He adds that the operations are aimed at safeguarding public safety and maintaining law and order during the celebrations.

Police have since warned members of the public against illegal possession of firearms, stressing that offenders will face the full force of the law.
