Tobacco farmers have been advised to present well-graded tobacco at auction floors to maximize their earnings.
In a statement released as the marketing season opens on Monday, the Tobacco Commission emphasized that selling high-quality tobacco can attract better prices, especially at a time when farmers are facing rising production costs.
The Commission further noted that delivering quality leaf will help Malawi remain competitive on the global market against other tobacco-producing nations. It added that this is key to sustaining and strengthening the country’s tobacco trade for long-term profitability.
Meanwhile, the Lilongwe Auction Floors will open on April 20, followed by the Limbe Auction Floors on April 23, and the Mzuzu Auction Floors on May 5, 2026.
