Malawi’s tobacco industry has generated K319 billion (US$184.4 million) during the first eleven weeks of the 2026 marketing season, according to the Tobacco Commission.

The Commission’s latest market performance report, covering the period from April 20 to July 3, 2026, shows that a total of 89.4 million kilograms of tobacco was sold at an average price of US$2.06 per kilogram.

Despite a decline in both sales volumes and earnings compared to the same period last year, the Tobacco Commission says market conditions have improved.

During the corresponding period in 2025, Malawi sold 126.6 million kilograms of tobacco valued at US$319.5 million, with an average price of US$2.52 per kilogram.
