Zomba City Council (ZCC) Director of Administration David Mlose says the availability of a reliable household database through an Urban Social Registry under the Regional Climate Resilience Project Phase II (RCRP II) will make it easier for government and implementing partners to identify and reach eligible residents.

Speaking during the city council’s executive meeting, Mlose said the initiative will eliminate the need for government and development partners to repeatedly visit communities to identify people who qualify for social support and other development interventions.

He said the city has faced challenges in identifying eligible beneficiaries whenever social support programmes and other development interventions are introduced.

Mlose said the establishment of the Urban Social Registry is expected to address these challenges by providing reliable information on households in the city.

He therefore urged residents of Zomba City to provide accurate and reliable information when the registration exercise begins.
