The Parliamentary Ad-Hoc Committee investigating the Chikangawa plane crash on Tuesday will hear from former senior security officials as it continues gathering evidence on the circumstances surrounding the June 10, 2024 incident.
Former Deputy Inspector General of Police Operations Akis Muwanga and former Malawi Defence Force Commander General Paul Valentino Phiri are scheduled to appear before the committee.
Muwanga is expected to address the Malawi Police Service’s operational response, while General Phiri will speak on military command responsibilities and procedures relating to VIP travel, among other matters.
The hearings follow testimony from community members and other witnesses on events before, during and after the aircraft went missing in Chikangawa Forest.
The crash claimed the lives of former Vice-President Saulos Klaus Chilima and eight other officials.
