Man jailed 11 years for defilement

Lilongwe First Grade Magistrates Court has sentenced a 39 year old man to 11 years imprisonment with hard labour for defiling a 9 year old girl.

Kanengo Police Station Public Relations Officer, Sub Inspector Esther Mkwanda, confirmed the development saying the convict, Frackson Stork, committed the crime on May 1, 2018.

Sub Inspector Mkwanda said: “Stork defiled a 9year old girl who was playing around his house in Area 50.”

During the hearing of the case, which was presided over by First Grade Magistrate Diana Mangwana, Kanengo police prosecutor, Sub Inspector John Bottoman, told the court that when the convict found the girl, he called her into his house where he defiled her.

When the matter was brought before the court, the convict pleaded not guilty to the charge a development which forced police prosecutor to parade five witnesses who testified against him.

In his submission before the sentence, the prosecutor pleaded with the court to give the convict a stiffer punishment to deter other would be offenders.

And when passing the judgement, her worship first grade magistrate Diana Mangwana, concurred with the prosecutor, saying the action of the convict has traumatized the victim.

She therefore sentenced him to 11 years imprisonment with hard labor in accordance to section 138 of the penal code.

Frackson Stork hails from Chitondo village in the area of Traditional Authority Kuntaja in Blantyre.
