BPC to dress Ndirande Mountain

The leadership of Blantyre Press Club (BPC) has emphasized on the importance of journalists to take lead in conserving the environment.

President for the Club, Blessings Kanache made the comment when he unveiled the clubs plan to plant trees in the 2019/2020 National Forestry season.

“As journalists people look up to us as role models because are advise them to conserve the environment in order to mitigate effects of climate change,” he said.

Kanache said in partnership with PUMA energy, BPC will plant twenty thousand trees this year on Ndirande Mountain considering that it has been highly deforested.

“We are planning to plant trees on Ndirande mountain, we strategically chose the place because it is almost bare so we feel the need to rescue the situation.”

He added that BPC is geared to sensitize Malawians on tree planting and regeneration.

In the past BPC planted trees in NkhataBay district and Chileka among others.
