Government to establish coronavirus testing center

The Ministry of health and Population has commenced the process of establishing a corona virus testing center in the country.

The Head of Epidemiology in the Ministry Dr. Annie Mwale has confirmed the news to YFM in an interview.

Dr. Mwale said this is one of the ways that will help the country to combat the virus if it spreads into the country.

Dr. Mwale assured the nation that: “The ministry has put in place detection measures of any suspected case by screening all travelers and follow ups on those coming from affected areas.”

She further said that the country has enough quarantine facilities which are well equipped and repositioned with enough supplies to accommodate any case that might be confirmed.

However, in addition Dr. Mwale said the ministry is establishing an indoor coronavirus testing institution which will help to speed up the process of testing and accessing the results.

“Meanwhile we are in the process of developing an indoor testing center so that we don’t have to wait for the results from the NCID, we believe this will ease the pressure and help us to combat the situation effectively.”

Meanwhile, Coronavirus has affected three African countries which include Nigeria, Algeria and Egypt and unconfirmed reports indicate that the virus has spread to the SADC region.
