Malawi’s Covid-19 cases rise to 39

Malawi has registered one new confirmed Covid-19 case in Mzuzu City, bringing the total number of cases to 39.

This comes a day after another confirmed case was registered in the city.

Minister of Health Jappie Mhango, announced on Sunday that the new case is a 20-year-old lady from Mzilawaingwe.

Mhango said the lady has contracted the virus through local transmission.

He said the patient has been put on self-quarantine and is currently asymptomatic.

Mhango added that currently, the ministry is tracing all the contacts of the new case so that they can also be isolated.

Nine people have so far recovered from the virus and 3 have died since the country registered its first case on April 2 2020.
