Minister commits to addressing gender based violence

New minister of gender, children, disability and social welfare Patricia Kaliati has hinted on her plans to curb gender based violence in the country amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Kaliati said this when YFM made an enquiry on what the public should expect from her ministry in addressing rising cases of gender based violence following the pandemic.

She said among others, she intends to work collaboratively with various non-governmental organizations and establish strong monitoring mechanisms on the same.

Kaliati also highlighted on the need to empower both boy and girl child so as to address the issue of men victimizing women because of inferiority complex.

She challenged law enforcers in the country to ensure that justice prevails for gender based violence survivors.
