MCP longest serving member laid to rest

The body of Roseby Dinala, popularly known as Mai Dinala, who was one of the longest serving members of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) was laid to rest on Wednesday, August 12, at Chitawira cemetery in Blantyre.

Mai Dnala died on Tuesday, August 11, at Blantyre Adventist hospital after a short illness.

President Lazarus Chakwera attended the funeral which also attracted government and party officials.

Dinala was one of the Malawians who welcomed Malawi’s founding president, Dr Hastings Kamuzu Banda, at Chileka Airport in Blantyre in 1958, who ruled the country for 31 years.

The late Dinala, never dumped the party throughout the years until her death.

She served as chairperson of the party’s women’s league for Blantyre.

She has died at the age of 82.
