CDEDI to investigate Msungama`s trip to India

Center for Democracy and Economic Development Initiative (CDEDI) says it is investigating allegations that Minister of Youth and Sports Ulemu Msungama has underwent hair surgery in India using tax payer’s money.

Speaking to YFM, CDEDI Executive Director Sylvester Namiwa, said they are following with keen interest the social media reports surrounding the trip.

“Following overwhelming reports within getting calls, text messages and whatsapp messages to follow up an issue that has gone viral on social media regarding one cabinet minister Ulemu Msungama who is currently on a medical trip in India.

“So as an organization that speaks for the less privileged Malawians we don’t just rush into issuing statement,” he said.

Namiwa has therefore assured Malawians that his organization shall make an official statement once the investigations have been thoroughly concluded.

“We are appealing to Malawians to wait patiently as we get down to the bottom of the matter and see whether the allegations are true,” Namiwa said.

He further said it is indeed true that Msungama is in India on a medical trip and to be back in the country on January 5, 2021.

“It is indeed true that hounable Msungama is in India on a medical trip,” he said.
