Crocodile kills man in Chikwawa

A 35 year old man died following a crocodile attack on Saturday while fishing at Illovo Dam in Chikwawa leaving another man injured.

The deceased according to Chikwawa Police Station Public Relations Officer, Sergeant, Dickson Matemba, is identified as Leonard Paul of Tilinta Village in Traditional Authority Maseya in the district.

“On Saturday early morning, Paul and his five friends left their respective homes and went fishing at Illovo L3 Dam,” Sergeant Matemba said in an interview, adding that “Whilst there, a crocodile suddenly emerged from the water and attacked Paul and one of his friends.”

The police publicist said the beast vanished with Paul, leaving the other victim (Paul’s friend) injured on his right leg.

He said police from Nchalo visited the crocodile attack scene only to discover the deceased intestines.

Meanwhile, police in the district are warning people not to play or fish in the waters that are infested with crocodiles.
