In an effort to uplift child health, UNICEF has donated several items including motorcycles and medicines to the Ministry of Health.

Health Specialist for UNICEF Ghanashyam Sethy said the aim of the donation is to help government in the fight against disease that attacks under five children like pneumonia in the country.

Sethy said the items will be given to Health Surveillance Assistance (HSA) working in the remote areas.

“Deaths surrounding the under five children are caused by pneumonia, diarrhea so that’s why we donated the medicines to help these disease,” he said.

He said health workers working in hard to reach areas do face challenges in transportation and that is why they also added motorcycles in the package.

“Service delivery to remotest areas is difficult hence the donation of motorcycles so that health working in these places to leave no child behind,” Sethy said.
