Government says it working on anomalies surrounding the commencement of the construction of Mzuzu Youth Center.
According to Minister of Youths and Sports Ulemu Msungama, the project felt short of some procedures including procurement process which he said will eventually have an impact on the progress of the project.
“Just to say that the project has a lot of anomalies, because the procurement process I think something went wrong.
And we are trying to review that and we are also engaging the Ministry of Justice to also help us to expedite the process,” Msungama said.
He however relayed an assurance that construction of the project will start before the 2020/2021 financial years ends.
“As a government, we are very much interested and we are committed to the course. For sure before the end of this financial year, the project will commence.
‘We are taking our time to make sure that we clear every problem that is there so that when we start this project we should be able to monitor the progress because as it is now, we may end having more problems than we anticipate of the project,” said Msungama.
