As one way of ensuring concerted efforts in fighting HIV and covid-19 pandemic, National Aids commission (NAC) has started training community based institutions on the importance of integrating covid-19 and HIV messages.

Speaking to YONECO online, NAC public relations officer, Karen Msiska, said reports show that people with HIV and AIDS are at a higher risk of succumbing to covid-19 since they have underlying conditions.

He therefore highlighted the need to make them aware of the importance of protecting themselves from the pandemic.

He further said the aim of the trainings is not to entice institutions to divert from fighting HIV and Aids but rather guiding people seeking HIV services on how they can also prevent Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), people with HIV may be more likely to become severely ill from Covid-19.
