By Esnart Chingwalu

Mzuzu University says it has collected K15 million out of the targeted K50 million following an appeal to well wishers to help needy students who are on the verge of withdrawing from the school due to lack of school fees.

Cliff Kawanga, Mzuzu University spokesperson said the deficit of the funding will automatically lead to some needy students being left out.

“We planned to collect about 50 million kwacha however by this time we have only collected about K15 million,” he said.

Kawanga added: “This means the students that we intended to help will not be those we initially identified because of this shortfall.”

However, Kawanga said there are yet to find out the total figure saying there is hope that some of these students managed to access the fund from other bodies like loans board.
