Police, striking High Court staff clash in Mzuzu

There was chaos at Mzuzu High Court on Friday afternoon when the police invaded the court premises demanding the striking workers to either get back to work or vacate the premises.

Mzuzu Police Commissioner was seen issuing orders to police officers to either escort the striking employees to their offices or outside the court premises.

This did not go well with the striking staff leading to heavy confrontation between the two sides.

One of the striking workers who opted for anonymity, told YFM online at the scene that “they are not going to bow down to savage treatment by the police.”

The Judiciary Support Staff started the strike three weeks ago to force government to pay them  house allowances.
